Johnson County ranks in top five healthiest counties

Indiana health officials released the 2016 County Health Rankings, naming Johnson County as the fourth healthiest county in the state.

“Greenwood is served by outstanding health networks providing excellent, preventative care,” said Christian Maslowski, president and CEO of the Greater Greenwood Chamber of Commerce. “This high quality care has positively influenced our public health and public health rankings. It’s another reason why Greenwood is a great place to live, work and play.”

The rankings compare counties on factors that influence health, including education, housing, jobs, smoking and access to healthy food and exercise opportunities.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute released the health rankings on Wednesday. The RWJF and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute measured the health of nearly all the counties in the nation and rank them within the states. In order, the top five ranking counties in Indiana are Hamilton, Hendricks, Boone, Johnson and Hancock.
