The Greater Greenwood Chamber’s 24th annual Taste of the Southside, presented by Meijer, featured more than 100 food and beverage samples from 30 exhibitors on November 13, 2016. Guests voted on their favorites via the event's new mobile app, "Southside Tastebuds."

The best of categories and winners are:

Best Beverage Exhibitor:  Taxman Brewing Company
Best Appetizer/Soup/Salad Exhibitor:  Chef Suzanne Catering
Best Entree Exhibitor:  The Stacked Pickle
Best Dessert Exhibitor:  A Piece of Cake
Best Booth Decor:  A Piece of Cake

The Taste of the Southside, presented by Meijer and facilitated by the Greater Greenwood Chamber, is a 24-year food and beverage tradition. The event features more than 30 area eateries, breweries and wineries, a live “Iron Chef”-style chef and bartender competition, silent auction, “tailgate lounge,” wine/gift card pull, and canned food drive. One event ticket entry allows guests to sample fare from all exhibitors.

The new mobile app, “Southside Tastebuds,” is available for iPhone and Android as a free download. Following the event, the app will send users push notifications with local restaurant deals and info on food events!

The Chamber hosts this event to connect the food and beverage industry with its most likely and loyal consumer base, and to introduce area “foodies” to eateries and beverage makers.

The food and beverage industry is an important cog in the local economic engine. There are more than 8,000 accommodations and food service jobs in the Greenwood area.  And area residents spend an average of $340,000,000 on dining and alcohol purchases a year. What’s more, local restaurateurs tell the Chamber their southside location draws consumers from northern Indy, Hendricks County, Bloomington, Columbus, and points south.

The Taste of the Southside, presented by Meijer, will return in 2017 on Sunday, November 4.
