Greenwood is First Partner City for INBiz, State's Online Government Business Services Portal

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The City of Greenwood will be the first municipality to partner with INBiz, the one-stop business portal developed by the Indiana Secretary of State’s Office. Greenwood Mayor Mark W Myers saved the announcement as a finale for his seventh State of the City address, a symbol of the “south side’s resurgence with Greenwood leading the way.”

Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson joined Myers and Greater Greenwood Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Christian Maslowski to detail the partnership, explaining the abundant efficiencies INBiz offers to current and future business owners. The Greater Greenwood Chamber hosted the event.

The INBiz portal combines services offered by the Secretary of State’s Office with agencies such as the Department of Workforce Development, the Department of Revenue and the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. Secretary Lawson revealed during the announcement that INBiz will welcome the Office of the Attorney General later this year.

Greenwood’s participation means that local business owners will transition the majority of their Greenwood City government interaction into a digital environment.  The portal will host Greenwood city permitting for building, signs, construction, and more.

“The partnership between INBiz and the City of Greenwood secures the notion that we are a business focused state,” said Lawson. “But, of course as Hoosiers we will never rest on our laurels. The INBiz team will continue to streamline the process for individuals starting, managing and growing their businesses.”

Myers echoed a theme of persistence during his annual address to a crowd of nearly 300 business leaders, community advocates and Greenwood citizens. The second-term mayor says he leads a city generating significant momentum with no plans to slow the pace.

“We cannot sit back and relax because there is still so much to achieve,” said Myers. “Greenwood is enjoying a strategic resurgence and choosing among several attractive options to improve the quality of life for our residents. Look at what we’ve been able to accomplish. And the most exciting part? We’ve only just begun.”

Local business owner and Greenwood Redevelopment Commission President Brent Tilson has collaborated on the effort since its inception and highlighted the benefits of services provided in a real-time, digital environment.

“The process of starting and managing your business has been very cumbersome and sometimes overwhelming,” said Tilson. “In today’s world, businesses are forming at a quick pace, and it’s imperative for Indiana to keep up and encourage that growth. The INBiz portal indicates that Indiana is investing in the resources needed in order to help foster business in our state.”

Maslowski added the announcement speaks to Greenwood’s welcome climate for business.

“Today’s announcement is a great example of who Greenwood is and what we stand for as a city,” said Maslowski. “Mayor Myers and his administration place a strong emphasis on economic development, and together with the Chamber, we want to create a business-friendly community for companies of all shapes and sizes.
