Greater Greenwood Named 2018 Chamber of the Year Finalist

July 2018 – GREENWOOD, IN – The Greater Greenwood Chamber has been recognized by the Indiana Chamber Executives Association (ICEA) as one of five finalists for the statewide 2018 Indiana Chamber of the Year. A panel of five leading chamber professionals located outside of Indiana judged the organization in the areas of: leadership and governance; finance; advocacy; membership and programming.

The Greater Greenwood Chamber scored high in all categories, and were strongest in the categories advocacy and leadership and governance.

The 2018 award winner was Greater Fort Wayne, Inc., edging out the Greater Greenwood Chamber by just one point in scoring.

“The Chamber believes true business success lies in the heart of each company – its people. That’s why we focus on creating a supportive environment for members to connect and collaborate with a dependable network of business leaders motivated to learn, grow, and succeed,” said Christian Maslowski, Greater Greenwood Chamber president and CEO.

“And it’s OUR people – our Chamber’s board directors, volunteers, and staff – which achieved this success and statewide recognition. We are dedicated to our mission, which is to maximize members’ business potential. I am so proud of our entire team.”

“ICEA established this award to recognize excellence in our local chambers,” said Shelli Williams, ICEA president. “We have since had two Indiana chambers, the Bloomington and Southwest Indiana (Evansville) Chambers, move on to win recognition at the national level after earning Chamber of the year for Indiana. And our 2017 Indiana winner, the Valpo Chamber, is a finalist for national honors this year.”

The Indiana Chamber Executives Association is the statewide association focusing on professional development and best practices for staff members leading all local chambers of commerce in Indiana. The Greater Greenwood Chamber, incorporated in 1954, is a 501(c)6 business membership organization. Its growing membership represents nearly 700 small organizations, big corporations, and self-employed individuals located in northern Johnson and southern Marion Counties in Central Indiana.
